Dr. Zhou dedicated his life to the healing arts, becoming a highly respected Acupuncturist. He worked as a Chinese Doctor in Shanghai up until 1991 when he immigrated to the USA. While in China, he was one of the first few doctors successfully utilizing Acupuncture in place of anesthesia during surgeries. After immigrating to the USA, he opened his own Acupuncture Clinic and worked hard to build a reputation for himself among his community as one of the top Acupuncturists of his time. Dr. Zhou prided himself with not only being one of the rare doctors practicing traditional Chinese Medicine but also for having been fully trained in China. Throughout his 50+ year career, he worked tirelessly to bring relief and comfort to countless people that could not be cured by western medicine. Dr. Zhou brought awareness of the many benefits of Acupuncture to previously skeptical people thus garnering extremely loyal believers and long-time friends. His selflessness and devotion to helping others meant he did not retire from working until June 25, 2024.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Zhou had a deep love for the outdoors, especially hiking in nature and traveling the seas. Whether it was exploring various trails or biking through peaceful forests, he found joy and serenity in the beauty of the natural world. In addition, going on countless cruises allowed him to photograph breathtaking landscapes, enjoy new cultures and collect antiques. These journeys were a source of adventure and relaxation, shared with family, whom he loved tremendously.
Dr. Zhou is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years: Xiu Ying Zhu, his daughters :Yanna Zhou (Steven Jun Xu) and Lena Yan Chun Zhou (Kevin Ngo), and grandchildren :Allison Xu, Kaitlyn Xu, and Autumn Ngo.
