

He was born in Uvalda, Ga., and was preceded in death by his daughter, Tommie Ann Burke Moorer.
He enrolled at the age of 18, in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Baxley, Ga, and then enlisted in the U.S. Army, at Ft. McPherson, Ga, where he served in WW II, as a member of General George Patton’s 3rd Army in Europe. He served in Northern France, the Rhineland, and Central Europe.
He received the American Theater Ribbon, the EAMET Theater Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and WW II Victory Medal.
He married Altine Foskey Burke on Feb 10, 1943.
He was a member of Hardeeville Masonic Lodge # 348, F. & A.M’s, in Hardeeville, S.C. for over 72 years.
He retired from Continental Can Company in 1962, where he worked as a welder.
He was a member of the Port Wentworth United Methodist Church, in Port Wentworth, Ga., and the Men’s Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife, Altine Foskey Burke, of Hardeeville, SC., 2 daughters, Joan Burke Moses (Preston) of Jacksonville, Fla; and Panda Burke (Alex Winter) of Hardeeville, SC; a brother, Herman Burke (Pauline), of Vidalia, Ga; 1 grandson, Craig Scott(Mandy), 3 great grandchildren, Jordan & Devin Scott, and Hunter Sanchez.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday at Fairhaven Funeral Home & Crematory, in Garden City, Ga 31408.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Port Wentworth United Methodist Church.
Interment: 3 p.m. Saturday at Smyrna United Methodist Church, in Uvalda, Ga.
