

He was born in Whiteville NC but live in Pooler, GA most of his life. He served with the Merchant Marines and retired as a Stevedore Foreman with Strachan Shipping Company. He was known as a man of many interests. He loved rebuilding wrecked cars, gardening, fishing and cooking BBQ.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Edward and Julia Melvin Hodges his 5 brothers J.P., Joe, Jim, Donny and Johnny Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Joyce, four sisters Dora(Jerry) Adams of Whiteville, NC, Bertha(Jimmy) Stokes of Whiteville, NC, Grace Sylvia, of Wilmington, NC and Evelyn Pearce of Houston, TX. Survivors also include seven daughters-Brenda Rahal of Savannah, Kay(Wayne) Sapp of Pembroke, Terri Hughes of Pembroke, Laura(Mike) Ferrell of Savannah, Selina Miles of Ellabell, Rhonda Sheffield of Meldrim, Melinda(Craig) Matthews of Savannah, and two sons Ronnie Williams of Springfield, Jerry Williamson of Ellabell, several nieces and nephews, as well as 18 Grandchildren, and 16 Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 23, from 6-8pm at FairHaven Funeral Home, and funeral services will be Monday, October 24 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Hospice of Savannah, or South Newington Baptist Church Building Fund.
