Edith Vernnie Mae Altman Green

Edith was born in Patterson, GA, grew up in Savannah, was married and lived in Greenville, SC. before moving back to Savannah, GA. many years ago. She was a 1958 Graduate of Commercial High School and had attended Armstrong College.

Edith grew up in Ardsley Park Baptist Church where she was very involved with many actives; she was a member of Augusta Road Baptist Church in Greenville SC. In her later years, she attended Quacco Road Baptist Church and most recently Grace Baptist Church. She had worked for Flora Daniels Construction Company and at Candler Hospital for several years. She also enjoyed playing BINGO and cards and eating ice cream!

Survivors include her children, Marya G. “Dory” Horne (Marshall) of Lexington, KY; Ernest DeWitt “De” Green of Greenville, SC, Daniel Christopher Green of Savannah, GA; 6 grandchildren, Jacqueline F. “Jackie” Chen ( Dr. Michael Chen), Brandon M. Horne, Connor D Green, Darion T Green, Patrick D Green, Avery D. Green; a great-grandson, Wei-Li Joseph “Joe” Chen; a sister, Jacqueline “Jackie” Altman Tucker of Hampton, SC; a brother, Raymond L. Altman, Sr. of Richmond Hill, GA; several nieces, nephews and other family.

A gathering for family and friends will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the Fairhaven Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
