He grew up in Wrightsville Beach, N.C. in a sea captains family and was known as “Mad Dog”. He owned a landscape business in Charlotte for 30 years.
Cpt. Mac recently worked in Savannah for Bass Pro Shops and Hertz. He was known for his delicious cakes.
He was predeceased by his father Frank, mother Annie Joyner, sisters Kathryn and Martha Ann.
His survivors include his current wife, Patricia Jaudon, son F.M. “Butch” McGowan, IV (Cynthia), grandchildren Chris and Meredith, 3 great grandchildren, his former wife Sandy, cousin Dorothy McGowan and other relatives.
At Mac’s request, his ashes will be scattered off shore. No services will be held.
