

She was born in Los Angeles, California, June 30, 1933, and she was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, and other loving relatives.
Marlene was retired from the State of Georgia, having worked as a Food Service Manager. She also worked many years in the Food Service Industry for several Savannah Restaurants. Marlene was a member of the Rincon Church of God. She loved her family and loved animals of every kind. She was always a willing Servant to others. She enjoyed writing poetry, cooking, and knitting.
She is survived by her daughters, Grace Lunsford (Greg), Marsha Shadley (Earl), Vanessa Payton (Robert), Janice Covington (David), Joan Roen (Mike), Helen Zapata (Manny), and Denise Persekian (Joe). 14 Grandchildren, Nicole Burnett, Christy Wiley, Melody White (Deceased), Aimee Jerding, Erica Shadley, Daniel Zapata, Rebecca Covington, Sharon Knight, Kimberly Chappell, Lindsay Hague, Phillip Knight, Joshua Zapata, Anthony & Christian Persekian, and 19 great grandchildren. 3 sisters, Bonnie DeWalthey, Connie Combee and Cindy Coward, also several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation: 10 - 11 a.m. Saturday at the Rincon Church of God.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at the Rincon Church of God, with Rev. Wayne Merritt, officiating.
Interment: 10 a.m. Tuesday in Laurel Grove North Cemetery, in Savannah, Ga.
