Minnie Lee was preceded in death by husbands Kermit (Whitey) A. Whited and Bobby C. Wilson, parents Eva Starling and Hardy Walker Burke and five brothers and two sisters. She is survived by husband Efraim Sanchez, son Jimmy Whited (Janice), daughters Jane Whited Munn (Clyde), Ann Whited Rearick (Tim), Lynn Whited Jones (Robert), 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Minnie Lee was a homemaker much of her life and spent a couple of enjoyable years greeting shoppers at Walmart. She and husband Bob were also commercial route carriers for the Savannah Morning News for many years. Her father Hardy Walker Burke founded the Lawrence Baptist Church in Pembroke, GA. Minnie Lee was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Savannah.
Minnie Lee never met a stranger and had the time of her life managing the infield/pit concession stands at both Savannah and Oglethorpe Speedways for many years while Whitey, Jimmy and Lynn raced on the tracks. She loved racing, the Atlanta Braves, tending her flowers and vegetable garden and entertaining friends and neighbors in her backyard and on the front porch.
As expected by anyone who knew her, Minnie Lee fought a brilliant fight until the end. She will be deeply missed by all.
Fairhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014, 12:00 p.m. at Lawrence Baptist Church in Pembroke.
