Mr. Robert Martin Porterfield

Robert Martin Porterfield 54 went home, Friday Dec 14, 2012, to be with his heavenly father after a long battle with ALS. He was a devoted husband, father and brother. A member of First Baptist Church of Rincon for 18 years and very involved as a deacon, and was the director of the Pre-School Department. He spent thirty years as a teacher, mentor, administrator, coach and leader to hundreds of children. He was active Gideon and loved the “prison ministry”. He wanted to see a bible in everyone’s hand. He was a member of the Rotary of Effingham Sunrise.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father Jimmy and Peggy Porterfield.

Surviving is his wife of 27 years Debbie, his daughter Paige Davis (John) his son Martin Porterfield, his sister Lynne Langrehr (Tracy), his brother Todd Porterfield, and his mother and father in law Fred & Pauline Jacoby. He has several nieces and nephews which adored him and respected their Uncle Robby.

Visitation will be at First Baptist Church of Rincon 300 N Columbia Avenue Rincon Georgia Tuesday December 18, 2012 from 5pm to 9pm.

Funeral will be at 11:00 Wednesday December 19, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Rincon.

Interment will follow at Bonaventure Cemetery.
