

Sheryl (Sherry) Rae Ward Buttimer, 53, of Richmond Hill, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Ray and Mary Ward, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Candler Hospital after fighting a long battle with an illness and keeping a smile on her face each day.
She was a graduate of H. V. Jenkins High School in 1979 and graduated from Armstrong State College with a Baccalaureate in Nursing in 1982. She applied the same passion and dedication which allowed her to achieve her four year nursing degree in three years to her nursing position in the Newborn nursery at Candler Hospital for several years. Later she applied her passion and dedication for nursing while working at the American Red Cross in the AP Heresis unit.
Not allowing her illness to dictate her life, she inspired all who knew her. She cherished her children and grandchildren.
Sherry is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Thomas M. (Tommy) Buttimer, Jr.; two sons, Thomas Michael Buttimer, III (Crystal Garmon),and Ray Nicholas Buttimer; two grandsons, Thomas Michael, Buttimer, IV and Nathaniel Alexander Buttimer; a sister, Joannie Ward Steptoe, (Ric Steptoe) all of Richmond Hill, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6:00 – 8:00pm, Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Crematory, Garden City, GA, with a Vigil Service at 7:30pm.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00am Thursday, July 16, 2015 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Richmond Hill, with Fr. Joseph Smith officiating. Burial to follow the service in Burnt Church Cemetery.
