Mr. Toby was born on February 2, 1919 in Atoka, Oklahoma, to Francis and Mary Toby. He was one of twelve siblings raised on a farm in rural Oklahoma and learned early in life that hard work and perseverance reaped many rewards. As a young man he moved to Long Beach, California where he met Dorothy Mae Killingsworth and they were married July 12, 1942. They resided in Long Beach for five years until he built their first home on a corner of Dorothy’s Father’s farm in Buena Park. In 1954, he built their present home in Garden Grove. Clint also created a thriving construction business and with Dorothy managing his books, they helped construct hundreds of homes in the Southern California area over the next 25 years. After moving to Garden Grove, they became Charter members of the Garden Grove Elks and Emblem Clubs. Both served nearly half a century in various positions and they both loved their Elk and Emblem friends, loved to travel with the Elk Enders groups and were ardent supporters of the numerous charities. Clint was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing a game of gin with his friends on Friday afternoon. For years, Clint and Dorothy would join their friends for Wednesday family night dinner at the Elks. Following Dorothy’s death in 2002, Clint continued to enjoy the love and support of family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 11:00 am at Dimond & Shannon Mortuary in Garden Grove. Interment will be at Loma Vista Cemetery in Fullerton.
