Fran Rayl passed away of natural causes at her Garden Grove home where she lived for the past 55 years.
Her husband, Jim Rayl and her sons, Jim Rayl Jr. and Ron Rayl, preceded Fran in death.
Fran is survived by children: Tom and Tim Rayl of Palo Cedro, CA, Kathy (Rayl) Culp and Debbie (Rayl) Padilla of Mission Viejo, CA.; grandchildren: Tim Damitio of Utah, Tim Rayl Jr. of Redding, Ca, Tracy Halmagean of Murrieta, Ca, Danny and Tommy Rayl of Tucson, Az. And two great grandchildren: Taylor Grace Rayl and Juliet Frances Halmagean.
Fran loved the beach, sun and water and rode her bicycle well into her 70’s. She was a proud American and during elections worked many hours as a volunteer at local polling locations in her neighborhood. She saw to it that all six of her children progressed through the Garden Grove school system from Evans Elementary, Faylane School, Simmons Elementary, Lampson and Lake Jr. High to Garden Grove High School. In her childhood she saw the Hindenburg pass over her mother’s house. She recalled the shocking news of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and sat with her children and watched Neil Armstrong step onto the moon’s surface in 1969. Nearly all of her life was spent as a wife, mother and homemaker. Fran held her head high, determined to live with joy with her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial serves were conducted on Monday, June 20, 2011 at 11:00am at Dimond & Shannon Mortuary in Garden Grove, CA.
