

of Fighter Squardron 2 from the USS Aroostic, The Lexington and the Saratoga until 1937 when ordered to Norfolk, Va.
As a boy, Glenn joined the boy scouts and in two years became an Eagle Scout. In high school, Glenn was on the track team and ran the half-mile.
Glenn graduated high school in 1939, attended William and Mary college for one year, then enlisted in the U S Navy. After several Navy schools, including
Machinist, Advanced Aviation Machinist and Aircraft Power Turrets, he was selected for the Aviation Cadet program. Upon completion of flight training, he was assigned
to be a flight instructor. After two years, Glenn joined his first squadron where he flew the F6F Hellcat. In 25 years of active duty, from 1940 to 1965, he flew different
aircraft both single and multi-engine including 4 engine during many varied tours of duty that began in WWII. He retired from the Navy in 1965.
After retiring, he embarked on a second career with the National Association of Securities Dealers in Los Angeles until retiring again in 1985.
He and his wife Ann enjoyed retirement in Banning, CA and made many friendships. They travelled in an RV and enjoyed cruises to many locales. He was an avid sports fan and also loved fishing.
Glenn had a wonderful sense of humor and was a good, kind man.
As his father before him, he decided to join the fraternal brotherhood of Masons in 1987, becoming a Master Mason in 1993. He was awarded the Hiram Award and became a 33rd Degree Mason.
Glenn passed away peacefully on December 27, 2013 while in the tender care of the wonderful assisted living staff at Emeritus at Brookhurst in Westminster. Preceding him in death were his younger brothers William (2013), George (2012) , Paul (1958) and his dear wife Ann Marie Harshman (2011).
He is survived by his three children, Glenn W Harshman Jr of Cantil, CA, Patricia A Harshman of Long Beach, CA, Robert A Harshman of Granbury, TX, stepson James Fasano of Bend, OR, Jane Dundas of Long Beach, CA, and loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and many long-time friends.
A Memorial Service will be held in Glenn's honor on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, CA. at 1:30 PM.
