

Ida (Idi) Mitchell Baptiste, 93, of Garden Grove, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025. Born in Wels, Austria, on October 2, 1932, Ida became an American citizen in the 1960s and built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished connections.
Ida was the beloved wife of Fred Baptiste. She helped build George T. Hall and Co., where she worked as a partner for many years, demonstrating her dedication and business acumen.
An ardent Elvis Presley fan, Ida belonged to an Elvis fan club and was an enthusiastic collector of Elvis memorabilia and Swarovski crystal. She had a passion for bowling and was a dedicated member of a bowling league for many years. Whether playing cards with family and friends or trying her luck at the penny slot machines in Las Vegas, Ida brought joy and enthusiasm to everything she did.
Above all, Ida adored her family and her dogs. She will be remembered for her love, kindness, and generosity, her devotion to her family, and her warmth and welcoming presence. Her fantastic sense of humor and fun-loving spirit touched everyone who knew her.
Ida is survived by her loving husband, Fred Baptiste; her brother, Alfred Aitzemuller, five step-children; two step-granddaughters; two step-great-grandsons; as well as seventeen nieces and nephews, twenty-eight grand nieces and nephews, and numerous friends and in-laws.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Dimond & Shannon Mortuary, 10630 Chapman Avenue, Garden Grove, California, on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
