Jackie was born in Methuen, MA on January 31, 1933 and raised by her adoptive parents, Charles and Edith Simpson in Danvers, MA. Jackie attended and graduated from Salem College earning her degree in Education. She moved in Long Beach in 1956, and taught for the Long Beach School District until she began her tenure at St. Polycarp School where she retired after 40-years of teaching. She married Ronald L. Herrmann who preceded her and their two children in 1995.
During Jackie's career, she not only taught elementary classes, she became Principal of St. Polycarp. Active in the Woman's Council, she was also a devout Catholic. Her wit and subtle sarcasm, you had to be quick to notice it, were her trademarks. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and role model to the children she taught. A good book or crossword puzzle were Jackie's passion.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Mark L. Herrmann and his wife Roxanne Schuda; her daughter Lisa M. Gavin, and her husband John Gavin; seven grandchildren and their spouses; six great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.
Fond memories may be shared below for the Herrmann family.
