Kency Benjamin Jr. was taken to heaven on June 9, 2021, at the age of 50. He was born to Kency Sr. and Jeanette Benjamin on August 26, 1970. The oldest of two sons, a cherished grandson and nephew who will be sorely missed by all members of his exceptionally large family.
Kency grew up in Mount Vernon, NY where he attended Mount Vernon High School. He was extremely athletic and dominated the playing field in basketball and baseball. He had several nicknames in the neighborhood including Kay Kay, Kue, Plaza, and K-rekka. His fond memories of Mount Vernon were often shared through his entertaining stories with family and friends.
After high school, Kency moved to California and worked in construction and as a Barber. However, his passion was being a personal trainer; he was known on the Los Angeles gym circuit as “New York” and always had a waiting list of clients. Kency loved fashion especially footwear, he was a true sneaker head and had a collection that would impress.
At times, when Kency encountered life’s tribulations, his faith with prayer led him to believe Our Lord would see him through.
Kency was a man of love and laughter, a big teddy bear and kid. He had a huge personality and the ability to connect with anyone. He was the father of two amazing women, Sashana and Quanisha who he loved deeply. He was a protector, the perfect mate to his fiancé Ameki and would give the shirt off his back to family and friends.
He is survived by his fiancé Ameki, daughters Sashana and Quanisha, Father Kency Sr., brother Khiem, sister-in-law Marcella, grandchildren Asani and Chris Jr. (Sashana) and Jayce (Quanisha), four nieces, one nephew and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins.
