and Thurlene Slack of Greenville Mississippi; He was the first child
born to this young couple. At an early age, Malvin went to live with
his “Aunt Na” and Ambrose Williams in Greenville. There he graduated
from O’Bannon High School.
For a brief period, he attended Tuskegee University in Alabama.
Later, Malvin was reunited with his mother and siblings in Los Angeles
California. It was a great reunion, she enjoyed cooking, and
he enjoyed eating. It gave her great pleasure to see Malvin enjoy the
many meals she prepared.
As a very young man, he took a position with the forestry service.
A few years later, Malvin became a Respiratory Therapist
working that position for many years in various hospitals.
In an early relationship with Virginia Pena, they had a Son, Steven
Slack, who preceded him in death in 2003 following a vehicle
accident. Malvin was later married several times, but had no other
children.
Malvin was a seeker of truth, he searched for truth and for God.
The last 10 months of his life was spent in a nursing home where
he confessed Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He prayed often for his
family and friends during these times and always said that he loved
everyone, and he asked for forgiveness for any transgression and
hurt that he had caused. He finished his race well!
Malvin loved laughter and found joy in any situation. There was
no situation or place where he could not offer a fun perspective.
On January 14, 2021, Malvin joined his parents and siblings,
Herman & Cathy, in glory. He leaves to cherish fun memories: four
sisters, Narvella Slack, Sheena Slack, Sharon Morris (Robert Sims),
Carla (Mark) Ford, Aunt Betty Johnson and a host of nephews,
nieces, cousins, Aunts & Uncles.
