

Marvin Clarence Hansen, longtime resident of Garden Grove, passed peacefully on 1/27/11. He was born in Forest City Iowa and moved to California in 1953. He enlisted in the Air Force after graduating from Dorsey High School in Los Angeles. He was first stationed in Fairbanks Alaska, then at Westover AFB in Massachusetts where he met his bride Jacqueline. They moved to California in 1964, and settled in Garden Grove in 1967. He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years Jacqueline, his daughter Eva and her husband Dana; his son Tom and his wife Gigi; and his three grandsons Zach and Sam Clark, and Thomas Hansen. He is also survived by his nearly 95 year old mother Dorothea Hansen, his brother Norm Hansen, and two sisters Hazel Chapman and Delores Ohler.
Throughout his life Marvin worked in the oil industry and retired from the Chevron Refinery in El Segundo. He also volunteered as a CCD teacher and as a Youth Club leader at St Polycarp's Catholic Church. He coached his son in baseball and football, and his daughter in softball. He was an avid Anaheim Angel fan. He loved to attend any sporting event or school activity his grandsons were participating in. In recent years he enjoyed spending time at his mountain home in Green Valley Lake as well as traveling in his motor home with his wife and their two loyal dogs Fred and Sadie. He had a great sense of humor and his laughter and jokes will be remembered and missed. He was a Man’s Man and a true Patriot.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, 2/2/11 at 10:00 am at St Polycarp's Catholic Church, Stanton, CA. Burial following mass will be at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
