Garden Grove, California – Noahnna D Murphy, 65, of Garden Grove, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born June 4, 1960, in Manila, Philippines, Noahnna grew up in the bustling streets of Makati, where the rhythm of city life and the warmth of the Francisco family shaped her earliest memories. A standout athlete from the start, she starred on the varsity basketball team at St. Scholastica’s College, sinking clutch shots and leading her squad with the same fierce determination that would define her entire life. She graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Accounting and continued her skills in computer programming at Ateneo De Manila University. Armed with sharp intellect and an unshakeable work ethic.
In 1984, adventure called her across the Pacific. She landed first in New Jersey, but California’s sunshine pulled her west that same year. It was here, on a blind bowling date, that fate rolled a perfect strike: she shared greasy pizza slices, laughed until her sides hurt, and hopped on the back of a motorcycle with the man who would become the father of her children. From that whirlwind night onward, Noahnna poured every ounce of her heart into raising Patrick and Kathleen in the golden light of Southern California, turning ordinary days into cherished traditions.
Faith was her compass. A devout Catholic, she never missed Sunday Mass, often arriving early or attending the Saturday night vigil. Her athletic fire never dimmed: she earned a black belt in karate, dominated badminton courts with graceful precision, and later discovered a passion for competitive pickleball, where her quick reflexes and infectious laughter made her a beloved fixture in the Anaheim Tennis Center.
Above all, Noahnna was the ultimate giver— giver of time, hugs, and unwavering support. Her laugh could fill a room like sunshine and her selflessness knew no bounds. To her grandchildren, she was “Lola” and “Grandma Starbucks” the one who spoiled them with sweets and Starbucks treats; to her Tita she was a sister, to her cousin a confidant and her giggle buddy; to her closest friends, the irreplaceable “B.G.F.F.”
Noahnna is survived by her mother, Norma Duarte Stone; her son, Patrick Murphy (wife Zuleyma); her daughter, Kathleen Tonnies (husband Bobby); and her adored grandchildren: Lea, Rosalie, and William Murphy; and Murphy, June, and Teresa Tonnies—six little lights who will carry her sparkle forward.
A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. on December 4, 2025, at Christ Cathedral, 12141 Lewis Street, Garden Grove, CA 92840, with an inurnment ceremony immediately following.
