Robert Lyle Martin, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on October 24, 2025, at the age of 94. He was born on February 27, 1931, in the small town of Stottville in the Hudson Valley of upstate New York.
Robert attended Hudson High School and graduated from the State University of New York Merchant Maritime Academy after serving in the Air Force. He was a technical sales manager for measurement instruments used in aerospace and defense applications, contributing to both commercial and military aircraft, as well as manned spacecraft.
He was married to his wife Eileen for 68 years, a partnership that began at an Irish dance in East Durham, New York, a resort area in the Catskill Mountains. Together, they raised three sons: Randy, Warren, and Ken, who live locally in Southern California with their families. Robert was the proud grandfather of five granddaughters: Emily, Kristen, and Sarah, daughters of Randy and Sandra; Madeline, daughter of Ken and Corliss; and Sophia, daughter of Warren and Debbie.
Robert was devoted to his wife, Eileen, and loved spending time with his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren. He enjoyed flying planes as a private pilot and had a passion for building radios, holding an amateur radio "Ham" license. Music was another of his interests, and he encouraged all three of his sons to take music lessons.
