July 18, 1946 - December 9, 2015
Roger loved God, family and friends, and his country. He was born on July 18, 1946, to Louis and Bonnie Hester in Poplar Bluffs, Missouri. The family moved to Downey, CA in 1947. He graduated from Downey High School in 1964.
He was a patriot serving in the USMC from 1964-68, earning the rank of Lance Corporal and receiving National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. During his last two years of service at El Toro, he met Brenda at a church basketball game, and they married in 1967.
He enjoyed working in the transportation department of Armored Transport, The LA Times, and Costco. He loved driving and getting out on the road. He was at home in a big rig. He loved traveling and had a great time visiting with his sister Darlene in Kansas after he retired in 2013. He also enjoyed gardening.
On December 9, 2015, the Lord called him home to receive his reward and so shall he ever be with the Lord. Please rejoice with us and celebrate his Home going. John 3:16. The celebration of Roger's life is being officiated by his lifelong best friend, Pastor Dale Fillmore.
He is survived by his wife Brenda, sons Matthew and Mark, sister Darlene, daughter-in-law Shauna, grandsons Lucas and Logan and granddaughter Taylor. He also has many cousin, nieces and nephews.
Arrangements under the direction of Dimond & Shannon Mortuary, Garden Grove, CA.
