Roseanne was born on a beautiful fall day in Whittier California on Friday, November 7, 1969 She was number 3 of 4 children. Her favorite holiday is Halloween and she always dressed as a cat Her favorite colors were neon bright pastels, yellows and beautiful pinks and purples. She was born with lazy eye and wore glasses at the early age of four years to help correct it. She kinda liked those glasses but then at times I’d find them buried in the yard or in the pocket of the vacuum cleaner! She was playful that way!
She had many school accomplishments and she placed in every sport in which she participated. Track and field was her favorite! She was an outstanding distance runner, cross country was her favorite. She was invited to participate in the Jesse Owens games at Cal state Los Angeles, and although she was a distant runner, she was asked to fill-in for a colleague who couldn’t participate, she was just supposed to run as a fill in, to the surprise of everybody, she placed in the event! It’s usually one or the other, you can either be a distance runner,or a sprinter, but not both! She placed in both events! She also helped coach during her high school years assisting her coach with the girls basketball team.
She also was part of a stop animation film club and helped in the production of several films. Her creativity did not end there. After high school graduation, she submitted an application for fashion design school, with an emphasis in men’s fashion, and of 300 applicants, she was one of only 30 who were chosen to the fashion institute in Los Angeles!
Life gives us many surprises and unfortunately, she was unable to finish. She was blessed with her son Markus in 1989!
Even though she was unable to complete her design school, she had an entrepreneur drive that she excelled at in almost every place of employment! When she was with the Anaheim Ducks, she was in charge of training new employees as well as with the Angels. She was especially proud to be one of the few at the Angel store who were selected to be the private shoppers for the then World Champions Angels!
She continued her love of working in the hospitality field with the Great Wolf Lodge in Garden Grove, again as a trainer and was chosen to be an ambassador for the lodge. She continued her employment there until she was no longer able to work. She also worked at The Great Wolf Lodge in Colorado.
She moved to Colorado with her husband Andy in 2019. Roseanne enjoyed the long rides in the country and she loved her new home in Colorado! She especially loved the mountains and watch the snowfall! They frequently visited a park called Gardens of the Gods, in the Colorado mountains.
Roseanne began her battle with kidney failure in 2017 and moved to Colorado where she received a kidney transplant in January 2022. Sadly that transplant failed 9 months later in October! She returned home here in Garden Grove the following year. Disappointingly and sadden, she had to again start dialysis all over again! She endured daily 10 to 12 hours dialysis! During this time, she encountered many hospitalizations due to her failing health. After having to endure daily 10 to 12 hour daily dialysis at home she was transitioned to hemodialysis to only four hours a day three times a week. Still a toll on her shrinking and frail body.
In September 2024 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and in February the following year, 2025 she beat it! She was a fierce fighter. During her fight with cancer, she once again encountered tremendous challenges! She overcame respiratory arrest, heart failure, tremendous sugar spikes and drops, unbearable neuropathy pain! And heartbreaking enough, because of her chemo and radiation therapy, ultimately affected her lungs.
Surprisingly to everyone during all her health challenges, deficiencies and frailty, she sold jewelry, nail art and lastly Mary Kay! Roseanne never complained, even when her pain seemed unbearable! Never!
She looked forward to family gatherings. She loved to challenge conversations, whether it be positive or not! She just wanted to be involved and included! She kept her smile and joined in songs, even in her broken in Spanish. Roseanne especially loved our tamaladas and was especially sad when she couldn’t participate!
She loved to dance and she loved to sing your favorite 80s tunes! When she was a child, she would often tease me and say “mom, you listening to that old stuff!” And I’d respond with “Don’t worry sweetie, when you get old you’re gonna listen to your 80s and that’s gonna be old, too!” We would both get a good laugh with that!
Roseanne was a giving soul! She was always available to anyone who called or needed a shoulder to cry on! No matter how weak or how badly she felt, she always gave of herself! Even in the end, when there was little left of her to give.
Roseanne had a unique relationship with your family and especially her mother Hilda. Roseanne always brought her special gifts from wherever she went. When confronted about the cost of these gifts she would always say,”I only have one mom!” She especially teased me about buying me roosters! When she gifted her with various Wonder Woman memorabilia, she knew it was her mom's favorite superhero, she’d always tell her mom that “You’re my Wonder Woman, mom!”
Roseanne was the fierce competitor on and off the track and field! And she brought that same fierce competitive spirited nature that was her, to her battle with your health. She fought hard and she fought bravely, right to the end!
She has left behind a massive void in our hearts and in our lives. She leaves behind her son Markus and husband Andy of 17 years. Her presence will be sadly missed by everyone she loved and everyone who loved her.
Rest in eternal peace, no longer in pain and no longer fighting to breathe. God keep you in his loving arms and eternal peace!
My angel and baby girl, Rosanna, Banana
