Born: Morgan County, Homer Township, Ohio
Died: Gardena, California
Emma June Rummell was born June 27, 1932 in Morgan County, Homer Township, Ohio, to Charles Everett McNally and Lelia May (Price) McNally.
When “June”, as she went by, was seven years old, her family moved to a farm where she grew up working with the animals.
On June 18, 1955, she was married to Clair Emerson “Jack” Rummell of Akron Ohio. This union lasted forty-six years, till Jack was called home in 2001, and they had two sons, Keith and Donald.
The couple moved to California, where Jack was stationed at the Long Beach Naval base, and eventually made their permanent residence in Gardena, California.
Both Jack and June were raised in church-going families, and Jesus Christ and church were an integral part of their lives. They attended a holiness church in Downey, where June attended as long as she was physically able.
June loved spending time in her flower garden, especially tending her many rose bushes (64 at one time), and enjoyed making quilts and other handiwork.
Although living alone after Jack’s death, many times she enjoyed the close presence of her Savior with blessings and times of “songs in the night”.
She died July 18, 2026, in the loving company of her son, Keith, and granddaughter, Amy.
June is survived by her sons: Keith (Terri) Rummell and Donald (Pilar) Rummell; grandchildren: Wesley (Julie) Rummell, Amy (Ron) Requena, Sabrina (Scott) Roberts, and Charlene (David) De Aragon; great grandchildren: Brianna (Dennis), Kierra, Ethan, Rylie, Aden, Dylan, Savannah, and Logan; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express our gratitude for the compassion and kindness we received from the staff of the Torrance Memorial Hospice. Their support in our time of need was indeed a true blessing.
A Committal Service will be held at Roosevelt Memorial Park Cemetery, 18255 Vermont Ave., Gardena, CA 90248, US, on July 24, 2026 at 10:00 am.
