

She was born on May 16, 1944, in Lima, Ohio to the late Herman Salvador Vaubel Jr. and the late Rosemary O. Vaubel-John. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her baby brother, Thomas “Tommy” Vaubel.
Alice was a brave and fiercely independent woman whose free spirit shaped every part of her life. Known for her honesty and admired for her strength, she carried herself with confidence that inspired those around her. For many years, she served as a property manager with the Charlotte Housing Authority, earning several awards for her dedication and leadership. She was respected not only for her work, but for the fairness and integrity she brought to it. Knitting was one of her greatest joys, a craft she cherished until a stroke made it no longer possible. Even then, her resilience never wavered. Alice lived boldly, spoke truthfully, and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit remains a testament to a life lived with courage and authenticity.
She is survived by her children, Craig Hext, Melissa Campbell, and Stephanie Candelaria; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as siblings, Butch Vaubel, Elaine Metzger and Susan (Thomas) Zofkie.
The family will be holding a private celebration of life at a later date.
