Amarius was born in Gastonia, NC, on April 23, 2004, to his parents, Sunshine Penny and Rico Berry. He is preceded in death by his sister, Emory Reign Ashe.
He leaves behind a constellation of friends, family, and fellow dreamers who will forever carry his laughter, his light, and his love for the unexpected. He is survived by his mother, Sunshine Penny and stepfather, Reginald Ashe; father, Rico Berry and stepmother, Layeng Berry; sister, Nashiyah Berry; grandparents, Sandra Logan, Macie Berry, Wayne Berry; and great grandma, Patsy Kilpatrick.
A heart full of love, a spirit built for adventure, and a laugh that could light up the darkest room. Amarius believed peace wasn’t just a goal, it was a way of being. He was a proud member of the U.S. Navy for the past 3 years. Amarius served his country with honor and heart, bringing his signature humor and warmth to every mission, every moment, and every colleague lucky enough to know him. He dreamed of settling down in the country, where the air was quiet, the stars were bright, and life moved with intention. He spoke often of a home surrounded by trees, laughter, and love—a place where he could grow old with peace in his heart and joy in his days.
A visitation for Amarius will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 from 11:00 AM - 2:45 PM, with a Celebration of Life to immediately follow at 3:00 PM at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Dr, Gastonia, NC 28054.
Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park is serving the family.
