David was a native of Gaston County and was born to the late Bartley Labon Honeycutt and Thelma (Stegall) Honeycutt November 29, 1947. He was employed at WIX Filter for over 40 years. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and golf but especially loved Ford cars. He had a 1994 Mustang that he was rebuilding that was his pride and joy. David also loved animals and lovingly adopted four cats that became family to him. David was beloved by all his family and friends and will be missed dearly.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Michelle McCaughey and husband Bill “Cacky” of Gastonia; granddaughter, Lauren Melhorn and fiancé Dustin Reynolds; sisters, Shirley Stevenson and Judy Carpenter both of Gastonia, brother, Bobby Honeycutt and wife, Sandy of Merles Inlet, SC.
A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, May 7, 2018 at Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia. Entombment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park. Reverend Scott Whitesides will preside.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM ~ 5:00 PM, Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia.
