Bobby Ray (Bob) Queen, age 81, went to be with his Savior on Sunday, September 20, 2015 while at the Hospice House of Alamance Caswell in Burlington, NC. Bob was a native of Gastonia, NC born the son of the late Robert and Renie Queen. He was preceded in death by his infant granddaughter; four brothers: James (Jim) Queen, Gerald Queen, Kenneth Queen and Lloyd Queen; two brother in laws: Reverend Harold Meeks and Charles Quinn along with many other nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Bob was the husband of Phyllis Hicks Queen for 53 wonderful years of marriage. He retired from Gaston Oxygen Supply Company after 30 years of service. He was a faithful member and deacon of Grace Baptist Church, for over 30 years and a former member of Salem Baptist Church.

He enjoyed working outside in the yard, gardening and fishing. His greatest joys included spending time with his family, attending church and prayer group with a few of his closest friends every Saturday night.

Those left behind to cherish his memories are his wife Phyllis Hicks Queen; daughter: Kimberly Queen Mahaffey and husband Larry Mahaffey, Jr; three grandchildren: Erika Adams, Austin Mahaffey and wife Kalie, Jacquline Mahaffey; great granddaughter: Chloe Grace Mahaffey; sister: Mildred Queen Meeks; three sister in laws: Mauna Queen, Marie Queen and Jean Hicks Quinn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Grace Baptist Church, Auten Road, Gastonia with Reverend Steve Hicks to officiate.

Bob’s family will receive friends from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Grace Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia.
