Brenda Sue Mitchem Helton

Brenda Sue Mitchem Helton, age 76, was reunited in the presence of God with her late husband, Roger, and her departed loved ones on May 10, 2021. She was born on June 17, 1944 to the late Melvin and Margaret Mitchem.

She was a devoted mother and an attentive grandmother. A talented artist, she gave her time to artistic endeavors at her church including floral arrangements, holiday decorations, and the painting of a mural in the children's wing. Brenda instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of education, a love for reading and life-long learning.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Vicky, and her brother, Dean.

She is survived by her children, Chris Helton and wife Nancy Dunn, Kevin Helton, Heather Mann and husband Daniel; grandchildren, Ben, Hannah, Caroline and Carter; sister, Gwen Waddle; and sister-in-law, Nancy Mitchem.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park with the Celebration of Life Service to begin at 2:00 pm. Graveside will be held following the services in The Garden of Apostles at Gaston Memorial Park.
