Carl Junior Painter

He was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Ray and sister, Kathleen Alexander.

Carl graduated as Valedictorian from Andrews High School and later married Joyce Collett on July 28, 1951.

Carl worked as a Diesel Mechanic at Akers Motor Lines, Johnston Motors and Carolina Freight. He also worked part-time for many years at Belk’s Department Store in the Men's Department.

He was a long time member of Flint Groves Baptist Church in Gastonia and had a passion for vintage cars and trucks.

Carl is survived by his wife, Joyce Collett Painter; sons, Roger Painter and wife Cissy, David Painter and wife Gina, and Tim Painter; grandchildren, Chris, Jeff, Stephanie, Travis, Sara and Megan and great grandchildren, Reagan, Donovan, Aiden, Andrew, Ansley, Hannah and Ashlee.

A visitation for Carl will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in The Cardinal Hall at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054 with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 pm. A committal service will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
