Charlie spent 27 years in the US Air Force. Retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant as NCOIC of Operations for the 145th Security Forces Squadron, NC Air National Guard in 2007. MSgt Bramwell garnered respect and admiration for his dedication and devotion to serving his brothers and sisters in arms. During his career he was deployed to Torrejon, Spain; Incrilik AB, Turkey; Upper Heyford AB, England and Okinawa AB, Japan to name his most memorable locations.
After retirement, Charlie became Treasurer and then Vice President of the NC XIV Blue Knights Gastonia Chapter. Charlie and wife Lynn enjoyed traveling, riding their trike motorcycle, visiting friends and national landmarks. Additionally, he enjoyed leather crafting and donating his work to various causes to raise money for organizations that helped those in need.
Preceding Charlie in death are his father Kermit Dale Bramwell, his mother Beatrice Nickie Bramwell, mother-in-law Gerline Harris, sister Darlene Holbrook and granddaughter Sarah Smith.
Charlie leaves behind his loving wife Barbara Lynn Bramwell of 45 years; four children, Melissa Nuttall of South Carolina, Charles Bramwell and fiancee Melinda Ladd of Bessemer City, Anita Bramwell of Dallas, and Chastity Bramwell of Gastonia.
Missing their grandfather are his five grandchildren, Joshua Nuttall, Austin Bramwell, Shelby Nuttall, Riley Bramwell and Landen Bramwell; two great-grandchildren of Warner Robins, Ga. He also leaves behind several close lifelong friends and neighbors.
A gathering of friends and family, to celebrate Charlie’s life, will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia.
