

To serve your country and defend its flag is an honor… Being a Christian and to serve in the United States Marine Corps and United States Army says a lot about a man… This man was Charles Seagle Coleman, age 93 who passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016 in Courtland Terrace in Gastonia, North Carolina… Known as Charlie to his friends, Charlie received many citations in his military career, one being the Purple Heart that he was awarded in World War II. He was described as “The Best Dad Ever” by his family. Charles was a longtime member and served in his church at Long Creek Baptist as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and Superintendent among other duties. He loved to camp and square dance. His lifelong dance partner and wife Frances Lawson Coleman of 67 years preceded him in death and they are reunited in the arms of their Lord and Saviour today.
Mr. Coleman was the son of the late William Arthur Coleman and Donnie Ester Seagle. He was also preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers.
Those left behind to cherish his memories and carry on his legacy are his two sons and daughters in law: William “Bill” Robert and Miriam Coleman of Dallas, North Carolina and Richard “Rick” Charles and Donna Coleman of Dallas, North Carolina.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 12, 2016 at Long Creek Baptist Church, 210 Long Creek Church Road, Dallas, North Carolina 28034 with Reverend Barron Lee to deliver words of comfort to the family and friends. Active pallbearers are Sheriff Alan Cloninger, Hoyle Withers, David Gribble, Manuel Ravey, David Callahan Tommy McClure.
Graveside and committal service with military honors will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Garden of Honor, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina 22054.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM ~ 2:00 PM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be made in Charles’s memory to Long Creek Baptist Church, P.O. Box 484, Dallas North Carolina 28034.
