

Charles Sloan Froneberger, age 86, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the Caromont Regional Medical Center. Charles truly loved his family. In his earlier life, he took his family camping and in his later years he became the Best grandfather ever. He loved to have fun and joke around with everyone. He was a NASCAR fan who loved #3, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Charles proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.
Those left to cherish Charles’s memories are his daughter and son in law: Jan and Greg Dockery of Gastonia; two sons and daughters in law: Steve and Donna Froneberger of Belmont, Robin and Tammy Froneberger of Gastonia; eight grandchildren and their spouses: Emily and Nick Gregory, Amber Bradley and Fiancé' Bob Battle, Jessica and Lonnie Parker, Holly and Corbin Hovis, Noah Froneberger, Megan Froneberger, Zachary Froneberger and Anna Froneberger; five great grandchildren: Gavin Parker, Jax Parker, Alice Bradley, Isaiah Hovis and Tenley Hovis; sister and brother in law: Doris and Bill Gore of Gastonia; one brother and sister in law: Bobby and Betty Froneberger of Deer Park, Texas; one sister in law: Bobbie Froneberger (wife of Bill Froneberger) of Gastonia; one brother in law: Bob Caudle (husband of Midge Caudle).
Charles was the son of the late Loy Froneberger and Mae Belle Rhyne Froneberger. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Naomi Smith Froneberger; two sisters: Helen Rhyne and brother in law: Charles Rhyne and Midge Caudle.one brother: Bill Froneberger.
A life Well Celebrated Ceremony will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, October 11, 2017 in the Chapel at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina with Reverend Johnathan Smith to deliver words of comfort to Charles's family and friends.
Active pallbearers are Nick Gregory, Bob Battle, David Rhyne, Scott Caudle, Lonnie Parker and Corbin Hovis.
Graveside and Committal with Military Honors accorded by the Gaston County Honor Guard will follow in the Gethsemane Garden at Gaston Memorial Park.
The family will receive guests from 1:00 PM ~ 3:00 PM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be given in honor of Zachary Froneberger to Holy Angels, 6600 Wilkinson Blvd., Belmont, North Carolina 28012.
