Charles "Bill" William Heavener

Charles “Bill” Heavener, 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 26, 2019 at Caromont Regional Medical center. Bill loved golf and to shoot pool. Professionally he worked in Auto Parts and Supplies and retired from Franco in Gastonia. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Bill was born in Gastonia, North Carolina and is the son of the late Annie Elizabeth (Cannon) and Leonard Heavener. His wife Eulalia (Hudson) Heavener preceded him in death. Also preceding Bill in death are a son, Donald Lee Heavener and daughter, Linda Gay Whitesides. Bill is one of 8 brothers and sisters. Howard Heavener, Leonard T. Heavener, Jr., and Louis Wayne Heavener have all passed before Bill.

Left to remember Bill and to carry on his legacy are his son – Ken Heavener, brothers, Larry Heavener and Jim Heavener and sisters, Elise McCarter and Betty Joyce Lackey. Bill leaves behind numerous grand and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Bill will be held at 10:00 am in the Singing Towers Garden of Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 South New Hope, Gastonia, on Thursday May 30, 2019. Active pallbearers are Ken Heavener, Jim Heavener, Larry Heavener and Donnie Heavener. Pastor Gerald Ramsey will offer words of encouragement and hope to all that gather to remember Bill.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday May 29, 2019 at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Bill’s name to Myrtle United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 12825, Gastonia, NC 28052.

Brenda please know your in my thoughts heart and prayers.We all of the Martin clan loved Mr Bill. Such a gentle man.and so very proud of his military time.take comfort knowing he has touched Jesus face.his pain is over. I reached Cassie in North Dakota . she was so attached also
