

A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother Clara Dickerson Hampton went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Monday, November 7, 2016. Ms. Hampton leaves with us loving memories of herself and her faithfulness to her Heavenly Father. Clara was a homemaker and a retired textile worker of eleven years. She was born to the late Ezekiel Martin Dickerson and Clara Sawyer Dickerson in Santuc, South Carolina on October 25, 1927.
She was preceded in death by four stillborn boys; five sisters: Edith Sawyer Vinson, Opal Dickerson Kirby, Ruby Mulinax, Romer Bumgardner and Betty Dickerson; two brothers: Ray Dickerson and Stanley Dickerson.
Clara is survived by her two daughters and sons in law: Sandra and Paul Maney, Sr of Smyrna, South Carolina along with Mary Lee and Tracy “Ricky” Woods of Bessemer City, North Carolina; one son: Jobe M. Hampton, Sr of Cherryville, North Carolina; one brother and sister in law: Calvin and Sue Dickerson of Stanley, North Carolina; ten grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; lots of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Freewill Church of Jesus Christ 145 Hamrick Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina 28056 with Reverends Jimmy “Bo” Burnett, Justin “Judd” Burnett and Vernon Cope officiating. Special music will be performed by the Maney family and Jimmy “Bo” Burnett. Active pallbearers are Eric Hampton, Paul Maney, Jr, Jobe Hampton, Jr, Eddie Woods, Brian Dean Lear II and Patrick Lear.
Graveside and committal service will follow in the Cherry Garden at Hillcrest Gardens, 1508 Charles Raper Jonas Highway, Mount Holly, North Carolina 28120.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM ~ 8:00 PM on Friday, November 11, 2016 at the Church.
