morning of August 29, 2025, at 7:25 AM. Born on May 28, 1950, in York, SC, Butch lived a life
marked by hard work, deep love for his family, and a personality that brought laughter and
warmth to all who knew him.
A master brick mason by trade, Butch proudly ran his own masonry company for over 50 years.
He was known not just for the buildings he helped create, but for the legacy of dedication and
craftsmanship he passed on to those around him.
Butch's greatest joy in life was his family. He held a deep and enduring love for his late wife,
Dorothy Mae Workman, who preceded him in death. His eyes would light up when he spoke of
his great-grandchildren, and the love he showed for each member of his family was unwavering.
He had a special gift for making others laugh with his jokes and quick wit, and he carried himself
with pride—always keeping his hair neat, slicked back, and smelling just right.
He is also remembered with love by his other half, Susan Jones. The two shared a deep and
meaningful bond, and Susan not only cared for Butch with devotion but truly loved him with all
her heart.
He is survived by his children: Pamela Moss (Steven), Claudia Herring, and Claude Workman
Jr. (Monica); his grandchildren: B.J. Ramsey (Brittany), Billy Moss Jr. (Stephanie), Travis Moss
(Cynthia), Tiffini Barnette (Michael), Jessica Leighton (Austin), Shelby Whitmire (Mason), Tyler
Workman, and Heaven Workman; and a beloved group of great-grandchildren: Savanna,
Sawyer, Hunter, Cole, Remi, Nathan, Maci, Maggie, Jace, Paige, Bentley, Angel, Ella, Storm,
Journey, and Waylon.
Butch’s presence, laughter, and love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of
knowing him.
Service details will be shared by the family in the coming days.
