

David was born on January 30, 1934, in Fort Worth, TX to the late Agusta Francis Johns and the late Thelma Louise Madry. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sisters, Jean King and Pat Monroe.
David spent 25 years in the Military as a decorated aviator, he served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Once he retired from the military he started a new career in teaching Automotive Repair technology for another 20 years. Having multiple college degrees, he succeeded in mastering any discipline he attempted. David will be remember for his intelligence, sense of humor and dedication.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years , Norma Dean Johns, along with 6 children; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026 from 2:30 PM - 3:00 PM at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC 28054. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home's chapel. Entombment will follow all services at Gaston Memorial Park behind the funeral home.
