Deborah Ann (Gaston) Bailey
January 9, 1957 – February 13, 2021
Deborah Ann (Gaston) Bailey, 64, of Gastonia passed away peacefully on Saturday morning February 13, 2021. Deborah is the second of five daughters of the late Fredonna Marlene (Morse) and James Raymond Gaston of Jamestown, NC. Deborah was a wonderful daughter, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She fancied Peacock feathers and all their colors in her clothing and decorating, attended Trans-Siberian Orchestra concerts and the Southern Christmas Show every year, enjoyed craft making of every kind and loved her beach home at N. Topsail Island. Her dream was to retire to the beach and become a volunteer with the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Hospital in Surf City, NC as a beach walker looking for injured sea turtles and monitoring turtle nests. She is a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She continued her studies at Presbyterian Hospital in Medical Technology. She specialized in Blood Banking and worked several years at the American Red Cross in Charlotte, NC. She was also a volunteer pre-school teacher for several years at her home church, Mount Pleasant United Methodist in Sherrills Ford, NC. She loved nurturing and working with the young children. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Woodrow J. Bailey and their sons, Patrick Gaston Bailey, 33, of Gastonia and Logan Morse Bailey, 31, and his fiancée Barbara West of Wilson, NC. Missing her grandmother is Deborah’s only grandchild, 12 year-old Molly Grace Bailey, daughter of Patrick. Deborah leaves behind four sisters, Sandra Gaston, Anita Boland, Karen Troy and Natalie Faircloth, two nieces, three nephews, and one great nephew.

Sending our love, thoughts and prayers to all Debby's family. We enjoyed our time with all of you at Mt Pleasant UMC, and I enjoyed working with Debby in the Twos' Class at preschool. The boys also shared events with Charlie, and Happy Birthday parties too. We are saddened at the news of her passing, but grateful for the memories of the fun times we shared together. She worked hard and was a very caring friend.

Debby was happy anywhere as long as family was with her. But nothing made her more happy than the beach and family together. She lived, she loved and she smiled like no other. The love of my life for 42 years.
God has kept his promise and wiped away her tears, freed her from suffering, given her a new body and welcomed her into his arms. I give thanks to God for every minute of my life I shared with Debby. God blessed our marriage, rejoiced with us in our happiest moments and carried us on his shoulders through difficult times.
God's love is constant and God is good. He keeps sending his angels to me as I grieve. Lord, lift me up on your shoulders and help we walk again.

Debby's last Christmas with Woody, son Logan and his fiancé Barbara at the beach 12-25-2020. Her collection of Belkie Christmas bears going back to 1987, Patrick's first Christmas, took her back to each Christmas and the precious memories she had. She was so happy that Logan had found the love of his life.

Our lives as a family where very full. Family outings where a big part of our lives growing up. This clipping from the 8th Annual Strawberry Festival in 1996 is a testiment to that.

Dear Woody and Family,As soon as I met Debby I knew we would be friends.,we were for 25 years. She brought her 2 boys in for haircuts and some were crazy ,lol. She would get so happy when I had a party she always came either with her boys or just Miss Molly in her baby carriage everybody knew her. When she moved to Tennessee I thought I wouldn't see her again but I was wrong she would come back every other month ,she would say this was her alone time.Than Woody got transferred back to Charlotte which was great I got to see her more. Debby and I enjoyed eating popcorn our favorite one was the pickle flavor we loved it she would bring me a big bag everytime she came and any new flavor she liked for me to try.She would bring Miss Molly and when they came Miss Molly always made me something a painted seashell a ring made out of pipe cleaners. Which I still have. She loved peacocks ,I would asked her if she seen something with a peacock on it and she had it already. Her happy place was the beach. She loved sea turtles.Debby loved her family and friends very much ,I will miss her.you are with the Angels. I felt you come say goodbye on Sunday. Till we meet again .I love you my Dear Friend and will miss you, your friend Carmen D'Ambra

Debby's favorite car ordered just for her. 1987 Mustang GT convertible. She only got one ticket driving home from work. Had to sell it a year and a half later after Patrick was born for a Ford Taurus wagon. A mustang just wasn't a baby mobile. She never forgot that car.
