

Deborah was born on August 04, 1950, in Fort Wayne, IN to the late Frank Smola and the late Margaret Claire Berning. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother, Wade T. Smola.
Deborah and her husband, Stephen, loved to spend time together traveling the world. They were able to take a trip to several places in the United States, but some of the more prominent areas being Germany, Austria, and lastly, France, where they renewed their wedding vows on their 37th anniversary in front of the Eiffel Tower. She dedicated her life to teaching students of all ages in Indiana as well as Virginia. In 2001 she retired from teaching and started enjoying spending more time with her family. Her children and grandchildren brought her great joy in life. She also enjoyed planting fresh flowers every year and taking great care of her dogs.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Stephen Zeigler; children, Brandt VanNess Zeigler, Arianne Zeigler Fishman, and Nikolaas Henrik Zeigler; 8 beloved grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her two precious fur babies, Elsa and Sadie.
