Dorothy “Dot” (Drennan) Phillips Parker, 83, of Iron Station passed away Friday September 4, 2020 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. Dot was a devoted Christian woman. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She worked hard in the textile mills as a winder. She will be remembered as a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Dot will be dearly missed by many.
Dot is preceded in death by her first husband Willis Phillips and her second husband, Theodore Parker. She is the daughter of the late Fannie (Brackett) and Howard Campbell Drennan.
Dot leaves behind her children, Troy Phillips and his wife Jane of Gastonia and their children Audrey Levorse and her husband Justin, Ryan Phillips and his wife Heather and Randi Gallina and her husband Sean, Johnny Phillips of Cherryville and his children Josh Phillips and his wife Morganne and their son Roan, Somer Delsignore and her husband John and Taylor Phillips, Maresha Murray and her husband David Sr., of Crouse and their children Marsha Neal and her husband Randy and David Murray and his wife, Amanda, Dennis Phillips and his wife Crystal of Martinez, Georgia and their children, Ariel Hinns and Ryan Phillips and Steve Phillips of Shelby and his children, Cori Phillips, Carli Phillips and Will Phillips.
Dot also leaves behind her thirteen great-grandchildren: Peyton Levorse, Emerson Levorse, Hollis Levorse, Carson Mumpower, Cooper Phillips, Spencer Phillips, Hayden Gallina, Maci Gallina, Gracie Delsignore, Noah Delsingnore, Makenzie Murray, Ashlin Murray, Landyn Murray and Roan Phillips.
Dot is also survived by her step family, Connie Hamrick of Dallas, Bruce Parker and his wife Joyce of Iron Station and their children Tonya Parker and Kenny Parker and his wife Sara, Douglas Parker and his wife Carolyn of Gastonia and their daughter Shelby Parker and Ted’s great-grandson Nate Parker.
For anyone wishing to say their final goodbyes to Dot she will be lying in repose from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday September 9, 2020 in Stateroom I at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia.
A graveside service and committal will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday September 9, 2020 at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia. Her grandson, Reverend David Murray, Jr., of Glory Land Missionary Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, will offer words of encouragement and hope to family and friends that gather to remember Dot. Dot’s grandchildren will act as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Dot’s name to Glory Land Missionary Baptist Church, 101 Benfield Road, Kings Mountain, NC 28086.
