Her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, called Dorothy “Dot” Mae (Trull) Young, 92, of Belmont, home, on Thursday February 1, 2024. Dot was a resident at Belaire Health Care, in Gastonia, when she passed on. Dot was a committed Christian woman and her faith meant everything to her. It informed and shaped all that she did. She was very active in her church. She attended the Church of God. She taught Sunday School and participated in multiple other church activities. Her heart was on children and many, if not most, of the activities she did were focused on children and youth. Dot had the privilege of seeing many of the children she ministered to become faithful Christian. Dot was also devoted to her family and others. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. Her children called her blessed. Her friends at church and work are all missing her. Dot was a hard working woman at home, in her church and outside the home. She worked in cotton mills, doing a variety of tasks, for over 50 years! Dot touched many lives and she is truly missed.
Dot is the daughter of the late Laura (Perry) Trull and James Glenn Trull. Her husband, Samuel “Bud” Young, passed away in 2010. Her son, Gary Lee Young, her granddaughter, Ginger Marie Young, grandson, Samuel Allen Young, Sr. and great-granddaughter, Maddison Taylor Young have also gone on before her. Her brothers, Doyle Trull and Lowery Trull also predeceased her.
Dot leaves behind her son Samuel Young III and his wife Marie, Diane Poarch and her husband Steve, Elaine Price and her husband, Larry and Pastor Ricky Young and his wife, Debby. Missing their grandmother are 10 grandchildren. Her legacy includes 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Her sister Becky McMillian and brothers Glenn Trull, Jr. and Ty Trull are also left behind.
