Ms. Edna entered her eternal life on July 11, 2018. She was born in Peoples Valley, Ga on February 7, 1925 to Levi and Clarence C. Johnson. She moved a short time later to Lowell, NC where she was raised. She played on basketball teams in school as well as in local textile leagues. She loved to dance, and never met a stranger. Edna retired from Amp Inc. and after retirement, served as a caregiver to many elderly people. She donated her body to Wake Forest University School of Medicine for medical research. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lowell.
A memorial service will be conducted at First Baptist Church of Lowell on Saturday July 21st by Rev. David White and Reverend Raymond Hamrick. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00. The service will follow.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Lowell Burnworth, second husband Jack A. Ward and a son, Kelly A. Ward.
She is survived by her children, Celia B. Bush (Jack) of Gastonia, Jay C. Burnworth (Fran)of Kennesaw, Ga, Candy W. Funderburk (Jeff) of Lowell.
Grandchildren Troy Bush (Margot) of Lake Wylie, SC, Dean Bush of Gastonia, Wendy B. Matheney of Dallas, Ga, Carey B. Morse (Mike) of Scottsdale, Az, Shannon R. McWhirter of Lowell, Casey W. Hudson (Jason) of Gastonia.
Great-grandchildren Tyler and Parker Matheney of Dallas, Ga, Caden and Kaleigh McWhirter of Dallas, NC, Anderson and Colton Hudson of Gastonia.
The family asks that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Lowell, Hospice and Palliative Care of Lincoln County or Meals on Wheels.
