Elaine Bolick (Tollison) Dilling, 77, passed away on Tuesday September 14, 2021. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Lowell and she served as the church’s treasurer, as well as on various church committees. She was a past Worthy High Priestess of White Shrine #13 in Gastonia. Elaine loved the beach and enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing Canasta with her friends, and dancing with the Swinging Stars Square Dance Club. She graduated Holbrook High School in 1962. She received the honor of being named Gaston County Employee of the Year in 1999. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Preceding her in death are her husband of over 40 years, Robert Bolick, her grandson, Jordy Bolick, her parents, Bruce L. Tollison and Catherine Ivey Prim, and stepfather, Leroy Broome.
Left to cherish their memories of Elaine and to carry on her legacy are her husband Terry Dilling, daughters, Angela B. Howell, and husband Randy of Gastonia, and Cynthia B. Knight of Kings Mountain. Her grandchildren, Taylor Knight of Kings Mountain and Erika Willis of McAdenville, are also grieving the loss of their grandmother, as well as her great- granddaughter, Alaina Hope. Also, her sisters, Cathy Webster and her husband Rob of Bessemer City, and Pamela Coleman of Asheville, as well as half-sisters Suzanne Belletto and her husband Joe of Albany, LA and Patricia Tollison of Bolivar, TN.
A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday September 18, 2021 at Carothers Chapel, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Retired Pastor, Reverend Ken Cobb, will offer words of encouragement and hope to family and friends that gather to remember Elaine. Hall Spargo, Bobby Hackney, Rob Webster, Billy Robinson, Sammy Willis, Chris Carrington and Scott Knight are the active pallbearers. Tony Adair and Chris Boyd are honorary pallbearers.
The graveside committal will be at 12:00 noon on Sunday September 19, 2021 in the New Masonic Garden of Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 S. New Hope Road, Gastonia.
