Elma Estelle Tanner

Elma Estelle Gaskins Tanner, age 91, of Gastonia, died Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Belaire Health Care Center, Gastonia. Mrs. Tanner was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mattie Hanna Gaskins.

Mrs. Tanner retired from Threads, Inc. and a member of Destiny Church.

Mrs. Tanner is survived by one son, Edward “Buddy” Tanner, Jr of _the home; two daughters, Joyce Robinson and husband Bob of Dallas; Kathryn Wells of Gastonia; two sisters, Vera Littlefield and Irma Avant of Jacksonville, Florida; seven grandchildren; Joel Sisk, Robin Brooks, Jeffrey Wells, Robert Robinson, Greg Wells, Nikki Wells, Jerri Greene; ten great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; 1great great grandson; seven step great great children

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Saturday with the Rev. David Tucker Rev. Richard Williams and Dr. Gene Ware officiating.

Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery.

Mrs. Tanner was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Lamar Tanner, Sr.; one daughter, Willow Odene Sisk; grandson, Jacky Sisk; three brothers L.J. Gaskins, Joe Giamalva and Charles Ard.
