Evelyn Randolph Parton Mock, age 78, of Belmont, NC, went home to her Lord and Savior, on Friday, March 9, 2018, concluding her journey through a beautiful life.

Born December 8, 1939, the daughter of Cole B. and Erma G. Randolph, Evelyn grew up in Stanley, NC, with her eight brothers and sisters. Serving as a past president and member of the McAdenville Women's Club, McAdenville's 1985 Woman of the Year, member of the Gaston County Elections Board, and member of the Lowell Planning and Zoning Board. She was active in her community and committed to improving the lives of those around her. This dedication to community service extended to the lives she enriched through her work at McAdenville Elementary School, where she assisted in Kindergarten for many years. Evelyn was a former member and youth group leader of McAdenville Baptist Church, then later attended services with her husband Donald at Sunset Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC.

She was a lover of coffee, drawing, camping, reading, Canasta card nights with her friends, and could often be found working through a 5,000 piece puzzle or word search in her retirement. Her greatest love of all was her love for her family. She enjoyed nothing more than being surrounded by her children and grandchildren, many of whom she taught to play card games, while betting with pretzels around her table, laughing at jokes, and telling stories.

Evelyn was fortunate to find love twice in life. Preceded in death by her former husband of 31 years, Randy G. Parton, and husband of the past 21 years, Donald G. Mock. She was greeted with loving arms in Heaven by her sisters, Mary McGinnis, Melvene Dowell, Jean Sperling, brother, Roland Randolph and son-in-law, Jo H. Stegall III.

She leaves behind the mighty legacy of her family including daughters and sons-in-law, Karen P. Starrett and husband, Rob of McAdenville, NC, Angela P. Stegall of Rome, GA, Melissa P. Arndt and husband Jimmy of Belmont, NC; son, Stephen R. Parton and daughter-in-law Amanda Lowell, NC; two step children: Donna Redd of Charlotte, NC and Gary Mock of Lowell, NC ; her fourteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stephen and Joan Randolph of Gastonia, Dr. Richard and Wanda Randolph of Myrtle Beach, Patsy Randolph of Gastonia, Rhonda and Dennis Dellinger of Stanley, James Sperling of Boiling Springs, SC, and Jim McGinnis, of Stanley.

I have so many memories with you all. Summer even to this day echoes the Parton family. A lightning bug takes me back to cathching them in your yard and our yard. Whenever I play Candy Land I think of y’all. My first and best slumber party ever was at your house. I camp now with my family of four in the spring and fall each year, and each time have thoughts of our camping experiences together at the beach and Green Mountain. My favorite TV show of all time is “The Walton Family”, and I think a big part of that being my favorite even to this day is sitting in your den huddled around the TV and watching this show together. The memories and love run deep. Through time with you all those first seven years of my life truly helped shape who I am today. Love and much Fondness, karla
