Floyd J. Sanders

Floyd J. Sanders, 69, of Dallas, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at his home. He was born in Gaston County, NC, son of the late Ben Robert and Helen Arthurs Sanders. He was preceded in death by his brother Gerald Sanders and a sister, Joyce Sanders. Floyd worked and retired from Uniroyal Chemical and was currently owner and operator of Sanders’ Rollback Service.

He was a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and attended Cleveland Community College. He joined the Army and was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division.

Floyd aka “Fast Floyd” or “Uncle Floyd” always had a love for drag racing and he was a frequent visitor at Shadyside Dragway where he could be found just about any time the track was open.

Floyd loved his family and is survived by his wife, Shirley Sanders of Dallas, NC, brother, David (Ann) Sanders of Kings Mountain, NC. Sisters, Linda Martin of Kings Mountain, NC and Barbara Greene of Shelby, NC. Sister-in law, Carol Sanders of Palm Harbor, Florida. Nieces, Susan (J.R.) Reiter of Indian Trail, NC, Lori (Bobby) Hannah of Asheville, NC and Lisa (Ricky) Packard of Shelby, NC. Nephews, Kevin (Lashay) Martin of Gastonia, NC, Mark, (Jodi) Greene of Bessemer City, NC, Steven (Marcy) Sanders of Huntersville, NC, Drew (Karen) Sanders of Matthews, NC and Jonathan (Chrystal) Sanders of Kings Mountain, NC. Also, many great nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: Thursday, June 10, 2021, 12:30pm to 2:00pm prior to the service at the Community Baptist Church of Dallas, NC.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Thursday, June 10, 2021, 2:00pm at the Community Baptist Church, 823 Dallas-Stanley Hwy., Dallas, NC.

COMMITTAL SERVICE: Thursday, June 10, 2021, 3:00pm, Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC.

ARRANGEMENTS: Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Community Baptist Church, 823 Dallas-Stanley Hwy., Dallas, NC.

Shirley, We are so sorry for your loss. As you know we all loved Floyd very much. Floyd just was a kind, sweet, guy!

He ate, sleep, and LOVED dragracing as we all do.....but most of all he LOVED the Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart.

So sorry for your loss Floyd was a good man and I know he will be missed by many. The family is in our thoughts and prayers in the days to come. Floyd is racing the streets of Gold…
