Gary Lynn Akers

Gary Lynn Akers, age 58, of McAdenville, died on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at his home with his loving family by his side. Mr. Akers was born in Gaston County and is the son of Della Heath Watts of the home and his late father, William Akers. Mr. Akers served in the United States Marine Corps and was a former employee of Pharr Yarns, Inc. Mr. Akers is survived by his mother, Della Heath Watts of the home; three sons, Bryant Akers and wife Angela of Mt. Holly, David Akers of Shelby, Mickey and wife Lisa of Gastonia; one brother, Rick Akers and wife Melissa of Sylva, North Carolina; one sister, Teresa Walls and husband Mark of Gastonia; five grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 3:00 P. M. to 4:00 P. M. Tuesday at Love Memorial Baptist Church, 311 East Walnut Street, Gastonia. Funeral services will be at 4:00 P. M. Tuesday at Love Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Criswell officiating. Burial will be private and at a later date. Mr. Akers was preceded in death by his father; son, Jason Lynn Akers; three brothers, Rev. Steven Akers, Michael Akers and an infant brother. Aunt Della& Family,
Sorry to hear of you'r loss. I called a couple of weeks ago an Gary told me what they had found. I haven't saw anyone there in many many year's are talked to anyone either. Gary and I talked for awhile and tryed to catch up some on meself,Jeff & Bobby.Again so sorry for everyone's loss our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.

Gary was a good guy. I didn't know him that well, but he was always O.K. by me. I know that his mother loved him and he will be missed. He helped me through some hard times and asked nothing in return. My prayers are with the family, and Gary. Mark Lineberger
