He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose family meant everything to him. Nothing made him prouder than his wife, children, and grandchildren, and he took great joy in seeing his sons overcome challenges and build positive futures for themselves.
Gary was a hardworking and dedicated man. After retiring from a long career as a cook and owning a fish camp for a short while, he then started working for NAPA delivering parts and took pride in a job well done. Gary believed strongly in right and wrong and lived with integrity. Protective, devoted, and dependable, he was always there for the people he loved.
He was truly one of a kind. He loved being outdoors, especially in warm weather, and enjoyed tending his tomato plants, keeping his yard beautiful, and gardening alongside his wife. Gary also enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and took great pride in his beloved 1966 Ford Mustang.
Strong-willed and opinionated, once he made up his mind, there was rarely any changing it. Yet he balanced that determination with a loving heart and a playful sense of humor. He was known for hiding his wife's coffee supplies in unexpected places just to get a laugh.
His hard work, devotion, laughter, and love for his family will never be forgotten. Gary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Patricia Gaddis; sons, Jeremy Michael Gaddis and wife Amanda and Jason Daniel Gaddis; stepdaughters, Angela Yount Buckner and husband Abraham and Samantha Yount Varner and husband Tim, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm. A committal service will immediately follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
