I first met Ms. Gelena at Light of Hope Church in Pineville, NC, her son Eric was pastoring there. I remember miss Gelena always greeting people with her big smile, always making you feel welcome. She was Very kind and warm hearted in her mannerisms. Her smile and words of wisdom, kindness, and encouragement would always seem to brighten your day, even if you were having a bad day at the time. Ms. Gelena was a generous, giving soul. She made this world a better place just by being in it. I am thankful for the two years I had a chance to get to know her a little bit. She was a special blessing to me, and she will be missed here. Thank you for those memories Ms. Gelena.

I didn't know her a long time, but the times that I met and talked with her was beautiful. She had a beautiful spirit and didn't mind talking to me. She will be missed, but always loved.

I will always remember Gelena. Anyone she came into contact she showered them with love. Her hugs were genuine. My favorite memory was our ladies beach trip. I learned so much about who she was. I will miss her delicious food. I will miss her crochet blankets! Can’t wait to see her again!
