He was born in Gastonia, NC on May 19, 1930. He worked as a machinist in the NASCAR industry for “Tiger” Tom Pistone for many years. He was a member of the NC Army National Guard. He had a passion for playing his guitar and serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Robert Blake, his mother, Elva (Laws) Blake; 2 sisters, Evelyn (Blake) Street and Virginia (Blake) Caulder; his wives, Joyce (Williams) Blake and Mary Lou Blake, and a daughter, Paula (Blake) Mills.
He is survived by a daughter; 9 grandchildren, Harry Smith, Regina (Weddle) Millwood, Stephanie Weddle, Tiffany (Weddle) Davis, Nikki (Weddle) Ratliff, Amy Price, Jonathan Price, Carol Mills, and Holly (Mills) Pennington; 17 great grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Jordan Smith, Mackenzie Lankford, Zachary Lankford, Sierra Davis, Skye Davis, Trinity Davis, Bret Compton, Lily Ratliff, Hannah Lee Bolen, Christy Irene Bolen, Austin Mills, Shane Young, Jonathan Mills, Destiny Trantham, Ashton Trantham, and Haley Dayton; 4 great-great grandchildren, Iris Low, Addilyn Rae Spencer, Adyson Harris, and Aiden Harris; and numerous nieces.
The family will receive guests at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the Dallas Church of God, 311 S. College Street, Dallas, NC 28034. A service will follow at the church at 11:00 am. Flowers or memorials can be sent to the Dallas Church of God.
