In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his wife, Mary Louise Sutton and sister, Alice Marie Sutton Ford.
He is survived by his two nieces, Kimberly Ford Landry and husband Jeffrey of Navarre, FL and Cathy Mincey and husband Keith of McAdenville, NC and 13 great and grand nieces and nephews.
George was a carpenter by trade and had a passion for making furniture, clocks and birdhouses.
A gathering for friends and family will be held at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park from 1:00 pm until to 2:00 pm on Friday, November 17, 2023. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 pm in the chapel with Pastor Carroll Hennessee officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
