Haskel Gene Carringer

“By His stripes am I healed…. I fear nothing because God has not given us the spirit of fear”…. These are the words that Haskel “Gene” Carringer wrote down and held true to the word God instilled into him. Gene, age 78 passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, at the Woodlawn Haven Rest Home in Mount Holly, North Carolina. Gene was a man who read his Bible daily and trusted God 100%. He was known as a Spiffy guy and was kept up to date on our national, state and local politics. He was a Fox news follower.

Those who knew Gene knew he loved old Vintage clocks. He had the mechanical mind to assemble, repair and restore them. Gene’s going to be missed greatly by his family.

Those left to cherish Gene’s memories are his wife of 28 years Evelyn Porter Carringer of Mount Holly, North Carolina; one daughter: Letitia “Tish” Lorene Carringer Keys and husband Alan Keys of Boomer, North Carolina; two sisters: Lodema “Dean” Cashwell and husband Paul Cashwell of Gastonia, North Carolina, Arbermae “Arbie” Carringer Harper and husband Dennis Harper of Gastonia, North Carolina; five grandchildren: Daniel Keys, Jennifer Keys, Elizabeth Keys, Joseph Keys and Benjamin Keys; daughter in law: Jana Carringer wife of Keenan Carringer

Gene was the son of the late Matthew Carringer, Sr and Hazel Ledford Birchfield. He was preceded in death by his son in 2009, Keenan Samuel Carringer and brother Matthew Carringer, Jr.

A graveside and committal inurnment service will be held at 2:00 PM ~ Saturday, August 26, 2017 in the Cherry Garden at Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 South New Hope Road, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054 with Reverend Dennis Harper to share words of comfort to Gene’s family and friends.
